anthropic has acquired seattle based ai startup vercept as part of its push to strengthen claude’s ability to use computers more like a human. financial terms were not disclosed. the deal brings vercept’s nine person team including co founders kiana ehsani, luca weihs, and ross girshick into anthropic. the startup had been building vision based automation tools that interpret screens and execute desktop tasks through natural language commands. vercept will shut down its external product vy, a mac app designed to navigate and automate software using computer vision, by march 25.
